muse’s song
(one more dream)

tell me a story, now tell, tell a tale of afar

name it, explain it, display all the creatures there are

lift up my eyes from this world, it is small, it is grey

a shadow or less to the colours that play in your visions, dazzling my mind

show me a wonder, a way to awaken my soul

incomplete, with a murmur you render it whole

and like the purest of springs, a tune from your lips

streams in perfection, sound that eclipses my echo of humble reply

so hear me

muse as i praise you be near me

bring me the magic of one more dream

let me sing again

golden your gift, given freely in glowing cascade

leaden this alloy i form, that i dare to parade

yes if i summon you still then you humour me well

patiently teaching me, you propel me to hope i may honour you yet

and if i lost you i'd lose, lose as lovers apart

lonely in darkness, defeated in spirit and heart

what is a silent world but empty and poor?

i could but grieve for the millions and more of your melodies virgin and true

so hear me

muse as i praise you stay near me

bring me the magic of one more dream

let me sing again

yes hear me

muse of all ages be near me

light up the night, bring me one more dream

and then, and then

i may sing again
